CloakWrite ("we," "us," or "our") is a software service that provides an AI text humanization and detection platform accessible at https://cloakwrite.com.

2. What Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Account information: Your email address and display name when you sign up
• Payment information: Billing details processed by our payment provider. We never store credit card numbers — all payment data is handled securely by our payment processor
• Text content: Text you submit to our humanization or detection tools for processing

Information Collected Automatically

• Usage data: Which features you use, word counts processed, and actions taken within the app
• Session data: Login timestamps and session tokens stored in secure HTTP-only cookies
• Device information: Browser type, operating system, and approximate location (country/region) from your IP address for fraud prevention and service optimization

Information from Third Parties

• Google OAuth: If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and display name from Google. We do not receive your Google password, contacts, calendar, or any other Google account data. We request only the minimum scopes needed for authentication (email and profile).

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your CloakWrite account
• Process your text through our humanization and detection tools
• Track your word balance and enforce plan limits
• Process payments and manage subscriptions
• Send transactional emails (signup confirmation, password reset, billing receipts)
• Respond to support requests sent to support@cloakwrite.com
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
• Improve our service through aggregated, anonymized usage analysis

4. Text Content and Processing

When you submit text to CloakWrite:

• Your text is sent to our server-side API and processed through third-party AI services
• We store a record of each processing session in our database for your usage history, including the original text, output text, and word count
• Text submitted through the free trial demo (no account required) is not stored in our database
• You can clear your usage history at any time from your account settings
• We do not use your submitted text to train our AI models or share it with third parties beyond what is necessary to provide the service

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with trusted third-party service providers as necessary to operate the service, including:

• Payment processing — to handle billing and subscriptions securely
• Hosting and infrastructure — to deliver and maintain the application
• Authentication— if you use "Sign in with Google," Google processes your authentication request per their privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy
• AI processing services — to deliver our core humanization and detection features, submitted text is processed by third-party AI providers under confidentiality obligations

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of CloakWrite and its users.

6. Data Retention

• Account data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion request
• Usage history: Retained for 30 days on Pro and Ultra plans, 7 days on Starter, not retained on Free Trial
• Payment records: Retained as required by applicable tax law
• Authentication logs: Retained for 90 days for security purposes

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Export your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

Canadian residents (PIPEDA): You have the right to access and correct your personal information. Contact us at support@cloakwrite.com.

European residents (GDPR): You have additional rights including the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. We process your data under the following legal bases: performance of a contract, legitimate interests, legal obligations, and consent where required.

California residents (CCPA): We do not sell personal information. You have the right to know what data we collect and request deletion.

8. Security

We protect your data using:

• HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
• Secure HTTP-only cookies for session management
• Row-level security policies on our database
• PCI-compliant infrastructure for payment data
• Authentication tokens with automatic expiry

9. Cookies

• Authentication: Keeping you logged in between sessions (necessary, cannot be disabled)

CloakWrite is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us personal data, we will delete it.

11. International Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your residence. These countries may have different data protection laws. By using our Services, you consent to such transfers.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we will notify users by email or by displaying a notice in the app. Your continued use of CloakWrite after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
